Motorola updates smart phone for Cingular

NEW YORK-Motorola Inc. reported the commercial availability of its Microsoft Corp. Windows Mobile-powered MPx220 smart phone, which is an update of its previous MPx200 model. Motorola said the new handset will be available using Cingular Wireless L.L.C. service at Best Buy stores beginning Oct. 17 and through Cingular’s retail stores next month.

The MPx220 includes e-mail synchronization capabilities with Windows desktop computers, as well as access to e-mail, instant messaging and multimedia services. The handset also improves on the MPx200, which was exclusively available through AT&T Wireless Services Inc., by including Bluetooth technology and a 1.23-megapixel digital camera with video capture and playback.
