Apisphere Inc. plans to acquire San Francisco-based Navit Innovations, a location-based technologies vendor. With the acquisition, Apisphere, a provider of location-awareness services for mobile business applications, said it stands to improve and enhance its location and navigation services.
Apisphere said it will gain RF engineering, embedded application development, navigation software engineering and hardware capabilities. Another benefit for Apisphere is the opportunity to implement Navit’s GPS and development expertise to provide products including location-based services (LBS) development support for handset manufacturers.
“The expertise Navit brings to our team will extend Apisphere’s customer reach to include manufacturers who wish to develop mobile handsets that support mobile business processes with on-demand, location-aware capabilities,” said Craig Harper, CEO, Apisphere.
