QUALCOMM LICENSES ASIC TECH NOLOGY TO VLSI COMPANY

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. signed a license agreement for VLSI Technology to develop, manufacture and sell Application Specific Integrated Circuits to Qualcomm’s subscriber equipment licensees.

VLSI is the third announced supplier of ASICs using Qualcomm’s Interim Standard 95 Code Division Multiple Access technology. The San Jose, Calif.-based manufacturer joins DSP Communications Inc. and Qualcomm itself in marketing CDMA ASICs for digital cellular, personal communications services and wireless local-loop applications.
