DULLES, Va.-TracSat, a business unit of Orbcomm Global L.P., announced it launched full
commercial service providing end-to-end asset tracking and monitoring solutions to the heavy equipment industry
worldwide.
“When you have a fleet of heavy equipment dispersed at job sites around the world, your most
important need is up-to-date information about the security and performance of those assets,” said Bill Meder,
vice chairman of Orbcomm.
TracSat uses Orbcomm’s network of low-earth-orbit satellites and global positioning
system location fixes to report accurate machine position information anywhere in the world, enhancing their utilization
and allowing stolen machines to be tracked and recovered.
The data generated by TracSat is made available through
the Internet, to a personal computer, fax machine or pager, said the company.
