29% of U.S. consumers have used a mobile phone while shopping in a retail store, new research shows. And shoppers who use a mobile phone in a store are 6% more likely than those who have not to buy something in the store, according to the ForeSee Results study “Mobile Apps: The Next Big Thing.” “This is valuable knowledge in a tight economy when any advantage helps,” says Larry Freed, president and CEO of research firm ForeSee Results. The study includes not just downloadable mobile applications but use of m-commerce sites and making and receiving phone calls.
