STM WINS CONTRACT IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

IRVINE, Calif.-STM Wireless Inc. won a contract to supply satellite networking equipment for a rural telephony project in Southeast Asia. STM values the contract at $30 million.

Installation of equipment will begin immediately, the company said, and this phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. STM said the value of the contract could increase to $40 million depending on future network expansion.

“This is the first realization of STM’s strategic focus on large public telephony contracts, especially in unserved, or under-served, regions,” said Emil Youssefzadeh, president and chief executive officer of STM. “We are delighted with this contract in Southeast Asia, which endorses the strategic plan and product directions that we adopted over the past eighteen months.”

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., STM manufactures wireless communications products including very small aperture terminals, hubs, modems and other networking equipment. Its products support data, fax, voice and video networks.
