Capital Markets: Ceragon acquires NERA; Qualcomm invests in ChaCha; and more

Ceragon Networks announced it has acquired NERA Networks,provider of long-distance microwave links. The $48.5 million buyout will double Ceragon’s size, product portfolio and geographic reach. With the acquisition, Ceragon will be able to provide solutions and services to customers to deal with the rising demand for wireless backhaul coming from the buildout of new 4G wireless networks and the network expansion in emerging markets.

ChaCha announced a $3 million funding rom new investor Qualcomm Ventures. This extends the round led by Silicon Valley investors VantagePoint, Venture Partners and Rho Ventures in October 2010. ChaCha provider of a free, real-time answers service. Cha Cha states that Qualcomm’s “experience and insight into the global wireless ecosystem will help ChaCha continue to expand its service worldwide.”

Kunekt Corp. creator of affordably priced, quality mobile devices, including Android smart phones and tablets, signed definitive agreements to acquire AMS-INT ASIA Ltd. (“AMS”), Hong Kong. The acquisition is a major step in its business plan to design, build and market mobile devices in developed and developing countries, initially in China and India. Kunekt will have 100% of the interest in the control and management of Guangzhou Xingwei Communications Technology , a mobile phone design company, and Beijing Yiyueqiji Science and Technology Development, an Android smart-phone design company.
