This month, NEC Electronics merged with Renesas Technology, giving birth to a brand new semiconductor manufacturer, Renesas Electronics. Showing off its wares at ESC in California, Renesas had a smart home demo set up.
The demo shows how smart energy technologies and eco-friendly devices can be combined and controlled by home owners to live greener and more efficiently.
Smart meters, smart thermostats, LED lighting and a user-control panel all help to make the connected home a more eco-friendly place, while also saving money.
Renesas has also partnered up with networking company ZigBee for the home’s power line communication (PLC) technologies.
All in all, the Smart Home demo, shows off just what system-on-chips (SoC) can do, whilst also highlighting how display and microcontroller (MCU) technologies in a variety of applications can make for a more connected, green home experience.
