Mobile-game publisher Telcogames acquired Australia’s Viva La Mobile for an undisclosed sum.
Viva La Mobile operates Redstar, a platform for multiplayer mobile gaming in use by a half-dozen network operators including 3 Australia, 3 Austria, SmarTone Vodafone Hong Kong and Telstra. The 4-year-old firm’s platform allows per-play billing, free play and subscription models, and includes community features such as chat, high scores, international leader boards and tournaments.
London-based Telcogames operates two internal studios, Magic Productions and Fathammer, that specialize in games for high-end smartphones. The company also licenses games for feature phones and has drawn critical acclaim for Sil, a 3-D title that challenges players to fit objects into their silhouettes.
Orange Israel will become Telcogames’ first customer to launch Viva’s multiplayer game platform next month.
“Telcogames’ global distribution will allow us to get people playing our games around the world and to enjoy the great experiences we have built into our games,” said David Kainer, Viva’s managing director. “We will also be able to take our technology to the next stage with the full backing of Telcogames, a global player.”
