Enterprise search company Fast Search & Transfer and Rakuten, a Japan-based Internet service provider, announced they have formed a joint venture to develop and provide mobile search and advertising service in Japan.
The new entity will be called Rakuten FAST Mobile Search and will be an equal joint venture that will combine FAST’s technological expertise in the mobile and advertising markets with Rakuten’s customer base of 38 million members.
Mobile search services will initially be rolled out to Rakuten mobile sites this year and will subsequently be offered to third parties, according to the companies.
