Airvana Inc. announced it has acquired 3Way Networks, a provider of home base stations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Airvana said it hopes the acquisition will help expand its push into UMTS radio access networks and fixed-mobile convergence. Airvana said it is aiming to provide secure access to network services for UMTS, CDMA2000, Wi-Fi and other IP-based wireless devices.
“This is a logical step in both companies’ evolution. We believe the acquisition validates our technology and provides 3Way Networks with considerable resources and market reach,” said Simon Albury, managing director of 3Way Networks.
“Consumers increasingly want to make their mobile phone their primary phone. With this acquisition and our existing Universal Access Gateway product, Airvana anticipates providing such a solution for UMTS subscribers,” said Sanjeev Verma, founder and VP of business development at Airvana.
