Casio Hitachi selects InnoPath’s OTA technology for phones

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Casio Hitachi Mobile Communications Co. Ltd. announced it will use over-the-air updating technology from InnoPath Software Inc. The technology will allow CHMC to remotely update the software in its phones.

“As the first company to deploy FOTA update technology for device management, InnoPath’s DeltaUpgrade Plus solution improves the end-user experience and enables feature enhancements to be delivered as soon as they become available,” said John Fazio, president and chief executive officer of InnoPath. “CHMC can reduce customer service and warranty costs while improving brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. This deployment with CHMC is another success story for InnoPath as we continue to broaden our market reach.”

InnoPath has signed deals with the likes of Toshiba Corp., Sanyo Corp. and others.

In other OTA news, Materna Information & Communications’ new Vistream GmbH subsidiary licensed OTA technology from Insignia Solutions Inc. Vistream will resell the technology on a hosted basis to mobile virtual network operators.

“Mobile device management is clearly an important capability for any operator due to the increasing complexity of today’s handsets. Vistream is quite happy to have identified Insignia Solutions, a clear market leader in this space, as our partner,” said Jan Geiger, vice president of business development for Vistream.
