Motorola signs GSM deals in China

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.—Motorola Inc. said it has signed four contracts totaling $100.8 million to expand and upgrade GSM networks for China Mobile Communications Corporation.

The contracts, which will cover GSM 900 MHz and 1800 MHz networks in provinces, such as Hubei and Yunnan, and cities, such as Beijing and Tianjin, is intended to increase capacity by 1.2 million users by the end of 2002.
