BELLEVUE, Wash.—VoiceStream Wireless now offers inter-carrier text messaging to all its subscribers, regardless of handset type or service plan, the company announced.
VoiceStream is using InphoMatch Inc.’s InphoXchange technology platform. VoiceStream follows AT&T Wireless Services Inc. and Cingular Wireless in making it possible for wireless subscribers to send text messages using only the 10-digit phone number of the receiver. The receiver need not be a VoiceStream subscriber.
The company said the service costs an additional $3 per month for 500 text messages.
