TI to provide chipsets for new Chinese handset player

BEIJING-Texas Instruments will provide the chipset technology for a new entrant in the Chinese mobile-phone business, Legend Holdings Ltd., which entered a joint venture with Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics Company Ltd.

The joint venture, which will offer GSM phones, plans to carve out a niche for itself in the world’s biggest mobile market.
