SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-Superconductor Technologies Inc. said it opened a direct sales and service office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to serve as its headquarters for its Latin American marketing thrust.
The company also announced it signed TWS International Inc. to a contract that calls for TWS to provide design, development and engineering services for STI customers in South America.
STI said it received the first orders for its high-temperature superconducting products in the region in late 1998.
