ATLANTA-MCI Communications Corp. introduced cellular service to Tampa-St. Petersburg and Orlando, Fla. The company recently began local wireline service in the area.
The Tampa Bay cellular area covers Clearwater, New Port Richey, Sarasota, Ocala, Lakeland, Port Charlotte, Fort Myers and Naples. Cities in the central Florida area include Orlando, Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and Melbourne as well as the Space Coast and the Kissimmee resort area.
MCI is offering customers a $50 credit for domestic cellular long-distance calling from the home calling area as part of the introduction.
