Kentucky utility to use Alvarion gear

CARLSBAD, Calif.-Alvarion Inc. announced Owensboro Municipal Utilities of Kentucky has deployed its BreezeACCESS point-to-multipoint solution to offer broadband services, including high-speed Internet access, in its service area. Since launching the service six months ago, OMU Online has connected more than 700 customers with broadband access. OMU expects to have a total of 1,500 customers by the end of the year.

“We chose BreezeACCESS because we wanted to provide a cost-effective alternative to local DSL and cable operators, but with carrier-class reliability and scalability,” said Phillip Coleman, OMU Online’s director of operations. “As a public utility, OMU’s driving goal is to improve the quality of life and economic environment of our community. The Alvarion solution enables us to do so while protecting our reputation as a high-quality service provider.”
