AsiaInfo-Linkage signs contract with Nepal Telecom

AsiaInfo-Linkage (Nasdaq: ASIA), a provider of telecommunications software solutions and related services, said it has signed an agreement to provide convergent billing and customer relationship management software to Nepal Doorsanchar Co. Ltd.

NDCL, or Nepal Telecom, is the state-owned telecommunications operator in Nepal and has about 6 million mobile subscribers.

“This is a significant contract win for us as it is representative of our international expansion,” said AsiaInfo-Linkage President and CEO Steve Zhang. “We established our core competencies by serving China’s three telecom carriers, and will now leverage those strengths as we deploy our best-in-class products and services in Nepal. Our solutions will link all of Nepal Telecom’s software systems: landline, cable, Internet and mobile phone. The customer will enjoy enhanced decision-making capabilities, standardized business processes and optimized customer insight, while simultaneously decreasing operating costs.

“Looking forward, we remain focused on serving our core telecommunications customers in China, as we try to win additional market share in multiple international markets,” Zhang said.

Expressing excitement over the partnership with AsiaInfo-Linkage, Nepal Telecom Managing Director Amar Nath Singh said the company was looking forward to the delivery of convergent solutions.

“Once the upgrade is completed, Nepal Telecom subscribers will benefit from a number of enhancements including hassle-free bill payments. Moreover, AsiaInfo-Linkage’s comprehensive solutions will include system implementation, system integration service and migration, training, and on-site support,” Singh said.

Singh also said that the agreement would help Nepal Telecom in laying a strong foundation for future growth that will take its user base beyond 21 million over the next few years.
