Boeing adds NTT DoCoMo to customer list for Connexion service

TOKYO-The Boeing Co. and NTT DoCoMo Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding for negotiating an associate service provider agreement that would make the Connexion by Boeing in-flight high-speed Internet service available to NTT DoCoMo’s mZone wireless local area network service users starting later this year. The companies also said they are considering jointly developing in-flight wireless services for international passengers.

“NTT DoCoMo is promoting global mobility support, so we are delighted to cooperate with Connexion by Boeing to offer a convenient mobile environment to our customers in the air,” said Kimio Tani, executive vice president and managing director of mobile multimedia division at NTT DoCoMo.

Connexion by Boeing currently has definitive agreements with Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines Systems, Japan Airlines, ANA and Kingdom Holdings Co. to install high-speed Internet service in long-haul aircraft, while Singapore Airlines, China Airlines and Korea Air have announced their intent to install the service.
