U.S. Cellular jumps into no-contract space (RCR Mobile Minute)

Mobile Minute:
U.S. Cellular is the latest carrier to offer its customers contract-free pricing, as well as incentives to abandon their current contracts. The Chicago-based carrier is offering unlimited talk, text and data for $40 a month. For $50 a month, customers can get the same offer with 500MB of high speed data and for $60 a month they can get two gigabytes of high speed data. U.S. Cellular says almost 90% of its customers are covered by an LTE network now.
Like its larger rivals, U.S. Cellular is now offering pay-as-you-go device financing, offering smartphones for no money down and 24 monthly payments. To qualify, customers need to sign up for the company’s Shared Connect or Simple Connect plans.
Like T-Mobile U.S and Sprint, U.S. Cellular is also offering customers a $350 debit card to reimburse them for their early termination fees when they leave another carrier.

The Mobile Minute is sponsored by SpiderCloud Wireless.
