This week on HetNet Happenings, RCR Wireless News Managing Editor Sean Kinney takes a look at a discussion between InSite Wireless Chief Operating Officer for DAS and small cell, Richard Grimes, and Jeff Mucci, CEO of RCR Wireless News.

The duo discuss topical trends in DAS, small cell, the overlap between the two ancillary technologies, as well as the importance of co-locating network infrastructure.

Drawing on topical industry debate, Mucci asks Grimes if DAS is indeed dead with small cell holding the door open. Grimes maintains that DAS is still an important piece of tech noting, “The patient is alive and well.”

The two also dig into the capex and opex advantages to operators willing to co-locate infrastructure in a centralized footprint.
