AT&T tops list of March Madness mentions

Social media moves AT&T to the top of the Elite Eight

The 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four is almost here. With that Sysomos, a social intelligence engine, has named its Elite Eight sponsors of the tournament so far, with AT&T topping the list with over 12,000 mentions on social media. That is almost triple the mentions the No. 2 sponsor, Bing, received. Sysomos also looked at which sponsor had the most favorable posts. Enterprise Rent-a-Car took home that title.

Sysomos used its social intelligence engine to determine which companies were mentioned most alongside the term March Madness on social media. This infographic shows how the Elite Eight stacked up:

Many were talking about AT&T’s “Legends” ad campaign. By the reactions from Twitter, it appears that people really appreciated Christian Laettner and Shaquille O’Neal’s comic abilities in videos like the ones below.

But if the majority of viewers are anything like this guy, the money spent on advertising was well worth it.
