In sum – what to know:

AI revenue targets – Indosat said neocloud services generated $16 million in Q1 2026 and could reach approximately $170 million in contracted revenue over the next three years.

Beyond connectivity – The operator is using its AI North Star strategy to expand into AI, cloud and digital infrastructure services alongside its core telecom business.

Wider AI adoption – Indosat is promoting AI use beyond Jakarta through AI Experience Centers, startup initiatives, and talent development programs.

Indonesian operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison expects its neocloud business to generate approximately $170 million in contracted revenue over the next three years, as the company expands its AI and cloud strategy beyond traditional telecom connectivity.

In comments provided to RCR Wireless News, Vikram Sinha, president director and chief executive officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said the operator expects AI-related initiatives to make a growing contribution to revenue in the coming years.

“We expect our AI North Star initiatives to make an increasing revenue contribution in the coming years,” Sinha said. “This will primarily be driven by better and more personalised customer experiences, and through our neocloud services.”

According to the executive, neocloud services contributed around $35 million in revenue during 2025. He added that the business generated $16 million in revenue during the first quarter of 2026.

The comments provide additional detail on how the Asian operator plans to monetize its broader “AI North Star” strategy, which includes AI-native telecom operations, sovereign AI infrastructure, and AI-related digital services.

The company has previously outlined plans to integrate AI more deeply into network operations and customer engagement while expanding into adjacent areas such as cloud and cybersecurity services.

Sinha also said the operator is focused on expanding AI adoption beyond Indonesia’s largest urban centers. “We are committed to ensuring that the benefits of AI reach every Indonesian and are working to create an AI ecosystem in Indonesia that supports AI adoption and innovation,” he said.

As part of those efforts, the executive highlighted Indosat’s participation in the Indonesia AI Center of Excellence initiative, which aims to support AI startups and talent development.

“We have also set up AI Experience Centers in Solo and Jayapura to encourage communities outside Jakarta to engage and learn about the potential of the technology,” Sinha said.

Indosat has been increasing its focus on AI infrastructure through collaborations with companies including Nvidia as operators across Asia-Pacific look to diversify revenue streams and position themselves within emerging sovereign AI ecosystems. In July 2025, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison had partnered with Cisco and Nvidia to support the creation of Indonesia’s AI Center of Excellence (CoE).
