Seamless integration of private and public networks gives enterprises
access to hybrid mobility for assets and workforce
Vancouver-based enterprise mobile networking platform provider Expeto is working with Dell Technologies to offer customers hybrid mobility. The intention is to provide businesses with the ability to seamlessly move between private and public cellular networks; this hybrid mobility is also integrated with existing IT and OT systems for centralized control. Dell Technologies is developing a large partner ecosystem to deliver solutions into the private cellular networking space. Working with radio access network (RAN), core network and other specialists, Dell is leveraging its compute, storage and other solutions, combined with a large existing base at the enterprise edge, to deliver cellular-enabled digital transformation. Expeto provides 4G and 5G core network technologies to give enterprises more control and security in hybrid mobility environments.
Discussing the intersection of private and public networking, Expeto COO Brian Anderson said the goal is to offer customers “the benefits of the broad coverage of the public network with the control that you have with a private network all in a single platform,” and using a single SIM card and single access point name (APN) “so it’s seamless.”
Speaking of Dell’s approach to ecosystem development and partnerships, Telecom Systems
Business Senior Director Ken Byrnes, who works across the channel business, said his
ecosystem approach is all about finding telecom offerings that meet enterprise needs. “This is one of the best offers that I’ve seen that really does mirror what the enterprise is looking for,” he said. Byrnes said Expeto’s approach to enabling applications to move between enterprise and telco networks is “market leading.”
For his part, Anderson sees the Dell partnership as opening up customer opportunities with an easy-to-consume offering brought to market with a trusted name. Expeto’s software is fully tested on Dell infrastructure, he said, referencing the Dell Telecom Infrastructure Blocks certification program. With cloud-based software pre-validated for interoperability and performance on 5G networks, operators can deploy new solutions faster, more cost-effectively and with less overall risk.
Byrnes highlighted a near-term focus on educating mobile network operators on how hybrid
mobility, which draws in the best from private and public networks, is in-demand from customers, and augments existing operator-led offerings to their enterprise segment.
