Thanks to technology, things are both getting more exciting and scarier with every day that passes. There are all sorts of new, exciting, helpful and frankly dangerous technology like AI, Chatbot, ChatGPT, IoT, automation and so much more. These are all impacting our lives for better and for worse. Science-Fiction writers have been warning us for decades in stories, books and movies. Fast forward to today, we are seeing in real-life how both amazing and terrifying this new world really is.

We were warned. You remember all the fiction stories we have read or watched over the decades. Stories like the 1968 sci-fi flick “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Or the dystopian sci-fi novel “1984”, which was published in 1949 by George Orwell. Plus, countless others like “I-Robot” or “Bicentennial Man” and of course, the movie simply titled A.I. by Steven Spielberg.

At speaking engagements, I tell the story of AI, Chatbot and FUD

At speaking engagements, I like to tease the audience with this just to jump-start their thinking in new ways. We think moving forward. We don’t always stop and consider the implications.

Progress creeps up on us bit-by-bit. It’s important at times like today to pull the camera back and get a longer-term, historical perspective of the ideas that are changing our world.

The bottom line is, if we cannot or don’t want to stop AI, we must at least remain in control of it.

What is starting to happen today is these dark fiction stories we all grew up with are now becoming real.

Fear, uncertainty and doubt about tomorrow is coming to life today with new runaway technologies like AI and Chatbot.

Even with decades of warning, we are still not ready.

We can’t seem to stop this transformation of society. It is a revolution. If we get off the treadmill, we can see where we are today. The problem is, we don’t typically get off the treadmill.

If that’s the case, for self-protection and self-preservation we should be asking how we can retain control over the changes that are coming at us more quickly than we can react to them.

The AI and Chatbot change-wave has already begun.

In fact, this has been happening for decades already. Some of these changes seemed innocent when launched like the Internet or smartphones. Others are both good and bad, like AI and ChatGPT technology. They can both help and hurt us at the same time.

Artificial Intelligence and Chatbot tech need to be controlled

Even the seemingly harmless smartphone, smart watch and tablet will continue to grow in power an importance in our lives going forward.

We all know how helpful these can be at managing information, our calendar, messaging, money and everything in our lives.

The problem is we do not think enough about what we have lost using them.

We have lost our personal privacy. Today, our lives are now an open book. Most people do not realize this. Especially the young.

The truth of the matter is, we can have no secrets any longer. And that’s the tradeoff. We can get something, but we must give something up in the process.

If that’s the case, what will we be trading off to get AI and Chatbot technology?

Remember, the current state of AI and Chatbot tech is still in its infancy stages. It will continue to rapidly grow and transform both itself and society at large.

This has the potential to impact every one of us and everything we do, from now on, going forward, forever.

That reality is both good and bad. It seems age has a lot to do with how one sees this. The young don’t seem to care. Not until they get burned. But by then it will be too late.

Creators of AI and ChatGPT don’t understand what they’ve unleashed

Even the creators of AI and Chatbot technology are issuing dire warnings. They admit they do not understand how it will change and grow as it matures, or how it will threaten us as a population, going forward.

They warn us about these problems, even though they continue to advance this technology further and faster.

In fact, creators of new technology like ChatGPT from OpenAI are warning us that we are moving quickly into tomorrow, and we don’t know what will happen next as this new technology continues to quickly mature and advance and think for itself.

Also, leaders of top companies like Google and Microsoft are also dumbfounded by what this new technology will do to us and for us, as it grows and as we move forward.

That’s why executives in this industry are both excited and concerned. While we can enjoy the ride, we should also take these warnings seriously.

We should not ignore the warning flags right in front of us all.

AI warnings from Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft

Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak have published a letter of warning along with more than 1,000 other AI industry leaders.

The problem is, AI and Chatbot technology is a double-edged sword. It can help us solve serious problems, spot medical conditions, find solutions and help humanity faster than ever before. So, it should be advanced.

On the other hand, as it grows, it will be able to take over our civilization both locally, nationally and around the world. It starts at low levels then slowly accelerates and before we know what has happened, it’s too late.

So, if that is the case and if we cannot stop it, how can we at least get the good and block the bad?

How do we control this new technology? That’s what we should all be focused on. Both sides of this important issue.

Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT are double edge sword

The wireless world and smartphones are an amazing technology that puts the world in the palm of our hands. On the other hand, we must give up our personal privacy to play in this game.

We can be followed and tracked everyplace we go, every web page we surf, every app we use and in fact everything else.

This shows some of the problems with this double-edge sword of smartphones and AI and Chatbot technology.

Even if we follow the warning of Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak and agreed to slam the brakes on the rapid growth curve of AI and Chatbot technology here in the United States, that wouldn’t stop anything worldwide.

You see, other countries will look at our pull-back as a green light to move forward-faster in the movement toward AI and Chatbot.

Further, faster into the future with AI, Chatbot, ChatGPT technology

The good news is we are seeing plenty of discussion and coverage of the potential problems. At the same time, we are rushing fast and furious into tomorrow.

And in this rush, like racehorses with blinders on, we won’t even see these problems coming in time to stop them.

So, if we cannot stop the forward-faster move to Artificial Intelligence and Chatbot technology like ChatGPT, what can we do?

If this is a ride we can’t control, we at least need guardrails to make sure this tech remains under the control of its human creators. And we need to get the world together on this.

Create guardrails to protect us against AI, Chatbot and ChatGPT tech

We should all be rushing to create and implement real guardrails for self-protection. We can benefit from AI and Chatbot, but we must do it with intent and not a blind rush into tomorrow.

This incredible tool has two sides, one good and the other bad.

We also need to get the entire world on the same page. This will not work unless we all are on the same page.

Rather than being in the typical world-wide race to be first, we need to be responsible for the good of all mankind.

This goes against the grain, but it is what we must do going forward.

So, the real question is this. Can we get the world together on this same page?
