UK-based IoT MVNO Eseye has been selected by UK freight software and analytics company t42 to supply global roaming and multi-IMSI eSIM services for its global container tracking solutions. The deal is an extension of an existing partnership, which has already seen t42 deploy 2,500 IoT tracking devices with Eseye’s cellular IoT connectivity in the last 12 months. It has a headline supply contract with electric motorbike maker Zero Motorcycles.
UK-based t42 provides IoT tracking and monitoring solutions for the global container and freight market, as well as to electric vehicles. The pair highlighted their “ultra-reliable” IoT connectivity with “security features”, as points of difference. Eseye’s AnyNet+ eSIM platform allows devices to switch networks and deliver “near 100-percent” connectivity uptime to any device.
Their combined solution is billed as an “end-to-end IoT asset tracking” service with t42’s analytics software and GPS trackers and Eseye’s cellular IoT connectivity, which runs on local operators in global markets. Eseye said t42 has reported “near-100 percent” (again) connectivity across its customer device estates. Eseye claims to offer access to more than 700 networks around the world – “the most comprehensive of any IoT connectivity provider”, it said.
It said its multi-IMSI eSIM / eUICC enables switching between local operators to deliver “the best and most available network”, and improve IoT performance, service costs, and management control. Its twin relationships with Verizon and AT&T in the US, specifically, have enabled t42 to “save substantially on roaming charges”, it noted. IoT solution provider tends to provide tracks for high-value cargo, and so its reputation hangs on “high availability and broad coverage”.
A statement said: “[Joint solutions] provide shipping managers with crucial data on location, temperature, humidity, impact, and similar metrics to help streamline the supply chain and dramatically reduce operational costs. t42 has ambitions to build IoT devices that can harvest sustainable energy to radically increase unit longevity, with Eseye applying the new GSMA Release 17 standard to make this dream a reality.”
The Release 17 reference is to the latest version of the 5G standard, now being patched into cellular networks and hardware; Release 17 also includes reduced-capability (RedCap) 5G, generally geared for IoT devices.
