Verizon Business opens UK private 5G hub for EMEA enterprises

Verizon Business has opened a UK demo office in London to showcase private 5G services and applications for enterprises. The new venue, called the London Hub, is aimed at customers in Europe and Asia Pacific, the company said, which it finds itself pitching to as spectrum liberalisation in industrial markets enables enterprise service providers without local spectrum assets to sell private cellular management services and applications.

Verizon called the new venue, located within its existing office in central London, a “customisable, modular space” for enterprises to test 5G-based Industry 4.0-type services. The facility has a private 5G network, on-site edge compute resources, “multi-camera setups”, and team-comms enterprise apps. The space is already offering retail and manufacturing demos, it said, with “new additions in other verticals, such as healthcare” in the pipe.

A statement said: “These experiences provide key insights into AI, computer vision, and extended reality, which are essential in adapting to the seismic shift in industries such as logistics and distribution, manufacturing, and retail.”

Massimo Peselli, chief revenue officer for global enterprise and public sector at Verizon Business, commented: “The London Hub is not just an incredible space but also represents our focus in the region. Verizon has been expanding its footprint in EMEA and APAC for years, cultivating an extensive partner ecosystem for our customers to leverage as we work with them to transform their businesses.”

Sanjiv Gossain, general manager and head of EMEA at Verizon Business, said: “The goal is to put customers and partners in an environment, removed from the outside world, that inspires and promotes collaboration. Private 5G’s applications and benefits are near-infinite, but sometimes it’s easier to experience an innovation than it is to describe it. Seeing the use cases in immersive scenarios is both compelling and instructive.”
