IoT platform provider Wireless Logic snaps up UK IoT firms Mobius and Jola

IoT connectivity platform provider Wireless Logic has acquired IoT MVNO Mobius Networks, a distributor of Vodafone M2M and IoT data SIMs for local government and smart cities, for an undisclosed sum. The all-UK deal follows on the heels of Wireless Logic’s acquisition of data SIM provider Jola, also based in the UK, last week. Wireless Logic said the twin deals will strengthen its position as an IoT provider for the UK public sector.

Leicestershire-based Mobius, which started as a Vodafone-only M2M SIM distributor, claims deals with a number of “global operators”, to offer international IoT roaming. It has been owner-operated since a management buyout 2019. The company serves various markets, nominally: “critical national infrastructure, healthcare, and retail”.

Berkshire-based Wireless Logic claims to manage eight million IoT subscriptions in 165 countries, via direct partnerships with 48 mobile networks and indirect partnerships with 750 networks. Its IoT platform offers a “single window” to connect and manage assets across any network and number of deployments. It claims over 20,000 customers in industry, agriculture, healthcare, security, transport, utilities, and smart cities.

Oliver Tucker, chief executive at Wireless Logic, said: “The IoT and M2M market is growing rapidly, and Mobius has developed a stellar reputation and strategic position to capitalise on this growth. With Mobius onboard, the Wireless Logic Group will benefit from the deep expertise within the business and a much stronger position when targeting the public sector. We are very excited by this acquisition.”

Douglas Gilmour, managing director at Mobius Networks, said: “We are delighted to be joining the Wireless Logic Group. Mobius’s unique approach to data security as well as our deep expertise in particular verticals create a great fit with the Wireless Logic and one that will generate new opportunities across the globe. The whole Mobius team is very excited at the prospect of what we can all achieve together.”

Jola sells IoT data solutions to managed service providers, internet service providers, IT support companies, and telecom resellers – “who provision, manage, and support thousands of SIMs through Jola’s own Mobile Manager self-serve platform,” it said. A statement said: “Jola’s expertise in the UK channel is highly complementary to Wireless Logic’s routes-to-market and customer base.”

Andrew Dickinson, chief executive at Jola, said: ‘“Jola will remain an independently-run company within the Wireless Logic Group, focusing as always on the UK channel, but with a global reach. The 1,000-plus Jola partners will see no change in the short term and over time they will benefit from product innovations across the group and more extensive supplier relationships.”
