Boingo’s new facility will serve as a launch pad to test, trial, and demonstrate 5G, Wi-Fi 6/6E, Wi-Fi 7 and IoT pilot programs
Boingo Wireless has announced that it will set up an innovation center in Las Vegas.
The new facility will be located at the Las Vegas Monorail Convention Center Station, and will serve as a launch pad to test, trial, and demonstrate 5G, Wi-Fi 6/6E, Wi-Fi 7 and IoT pilot programs, as well as use cases like instant sports betting at live events, AR/VR, smart utilities and security management with biometrics, the company said.
Boingo said that the center will be open to Boingo customers and the Las Vegas business community.

The Boingo Innovation Center is scheduled to open in the second half of 2022.
In related news, Boingo said it is enhancing the Las Vegas Monorail experience with its mobile and IoT wireless technologies. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), which owns and operates the Las Vegas Monorail, partnered with Boingo to brand and operate a new wireless network at the Las Vegas Monorail Convention Center Station.
Boingo said that its network will allow passengers to connect to their favorite entertainment and productivity applications, including social media, streaming services, email, mobile boarding passes and digital conference badges, while at the station.
The 3.9 mile elevated Las Vegas Monorail provides connections along the Las Vegas Strip, directly linking passengers to 25,000 hotel rooms and restaurants, shopping, sports and entertainment options. With Wi-Fi coverage deployed by Boingo, the Convention Center Station will offer passengers quick access to digital applications such as touchless ticketing, mobile entry and cashless payment. Boingo said that coverage is scheduled to go live later this year.
Last month, Boingo Wireless announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, and the Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program ecosystem to streamline the deployment of IoT devices for venue and enterprise customers. Using the Qualcomm IoT Services Suite, Boingo can bring together the hardware, software and platforms required to enable IoT projects and connect devices with its private network solution.
Sectors that can adopt and benefit from Qualcomm IoT Services Suite solutions with Boingo and Qualcomm Technologies are transportation, commercial real estate, sports and entertainment, manufacturing, healthcare, military and government. Use cases driving adoption are touchless entry points, digital payments, water and waste management, smart utilities, security management, predictive maintenance and asset tracking, Boingo said.
