In case you missed it (because we did); US industrial IoT manufacturer Digi International has acquired Dallas-based LoRaWAN firm Haxiot for an undisclosed fee. The deal closed at the end of last month (March).
Haxiot’s portfolio includes LoRaWAN-based modules, devices, gateways, a network server solution, and cloud IoT platform. Its systems are designed for all-sized enterprises and operators, it says. It focuses on smart utilities, oil and gas, industrial and supply chain.
The deal enhances Digi’s embedded systems portfolio and extends its market reach, the Minnesota firm said. The incoming LoRaWAN portfolio complements its own XBee-branded ‘ecosystem’ and ConnectCore-branded system-on-modules. Digi quoted Semtech, which owns and licenses the LoRa standard, that LoRa will “move into the mainstream in 2021” with significant market adoption and an estimated 40 percent compound growth rate over the next several years.
Steve Ericson, general manager and vice president of OEM solutions for Digi International, said: “Adding Haxiot’s LoRaWAN platform to our existing portfolio provides customers with a single-source for their embedded systems needs and the ability to get to market faster with the right technology for their applications.”
