The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) announced that 3D AI analytics start-up Contilio is the winner of its Smart Construction Challenge, IIC said in a release.
The challenge was designed to advance real-world validation of Smart Construction applications and solutions while integrating cloud, edge, fog and IoT technologies.
As the winner, Contilio was awarded ?25,000 ($27,000) and the opportunity to deliver a live proof of concept (POC) at the T?V S?D International Business Park in Singapore.
IIC Contilio?s solution uses advanced technologies including 3D computer vision and deep learning to provide intelligent insights from 3D data and photos captured from a construction site. This data is uploaded to a cloud environment and processed automatically through a 3D AI platform into intelligent analytics on construction progress, installation quality and predictive KPIs on risks and issues. The analytics can be accessed through a cloud dashboard that communicates the insights to key construction employees and other stakeholders, including owners, financial partners and company management.

Construction industry partners T?V S?D Z?blin, Bosch and Liebherr provided the requirements and use case definitions for the challenge and assisted challenge participants in testing their proof-of-concept (POC), IIC said.
Technology suppliers Autodesk, HERE, Ottobock and Qtum provided relevant technology components to assist start-ups and solution providers in the creation of their POCs for further development and offered overall technology guidance.
Earlier this year, IIC announced the winners of its smart buildings challenge, which is aimed at helping digitalize the smart buildings industry.
ICC noted that initial use cases for this challenge included:
-Smart space flow analytics: Tracking, zones, anonymized tracking
-Smart metering in multi-tenant commercial buildings: Smart metering, energy consumption, focus on electric energy
-Smart automated building: HVAC, control technical equipment, demand-oriented control of equipment, sustainability
-Smart building dashboard: Management tools, sales tools, overview, digital twins, augmented reality
The winners of the contest were:
-Cubelizer S.L., which won for smart space flow analytics;
-Aedifion and Thing Technologies, who won for both the smart metering in multi-tenant commercial buildings and smart automated building use cases; and
-Holisticon and its subsidiary Markenwerk ,who won for smart building cockpit.
