German telco Deutsche Telekom and Software AG have announced a strategic partnership to deliver IoT services on a global scale.
Under the terms of the deal, Deutsche Telekom and its enterprise customer unit T-Systems will expand their “Cloud of Things” offering, using Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform.
The two companies also highlighted that this IoT agreement will allow them to expand their presence across the United States, Germany and wider European markets.

T-Systems said it will use Cumulocity IoT’s connected architecture as the new foundation for its integrated Cloud of Things IoT platform. Cloud of Things is the backbone that supports a vast range of mission-critical customer applications. It allows companies to remotely monitor, manage and control their connected devices and machines, the firm said.
Software AG acquired Cumulocity in March 2017. Cumulocity specialized in the development of innovative solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) offering connectivity for networked digital devices and sensors through a cloud-hosted IoT device management and application enablement platform.
Based on a previous strategic partnership, Software AG had embedded Cumulocity’s IoT Cloud Platform into its Digital Business Platform software portfolio in 2015. The combination of the Digital Business Platform and Cumulocity’s Application and Device Management technology reduces the complexity of the IoT and allows the scalable and flexible management of networks of millions of devices. Additionally, enterprises can integrate those IoT edge devices with any existing IT application and deploy other Digital Business Platform software products to those devices, Software AG said.
