The first wave of in-building products designed for the next generation cellular 5G network is starting to emerge. ?Among them is a 5G enhanced indoor distributed antenna system (DAS) called iDas Appeal designed by Telewave, a San Jose-based manufacturer of RF system products. ??
The company says it developed the iDAS Appeal suite in response to growing demand from service operators to deploy IoT for in-building applications to reduce operational cost, improve public safety, and to enhance tenant experiences.
The iDAS Appeal antenna, which is designed to enhance in-building cellular performance, comes equipped with an increased number of public safety VHF/UHF and FirstNet bands for emergency first responders and Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS).

The in-building antenna serves ultra-wideband coverage including UHF-SHF-LTE-WiFi CBRS and sub 6GHz 5G frequencies.
The DAS solution includes a wide range of rooftop antennas in conjunction with passive element components, including low PIM high-efficiency ceiling and wall mounted antennas, low PIM low loss wide-band power splitters, low PIM and low loss hybrid and directional couplers, and low PIM termination loads.
According to Telewave, the new DAS offering has lower equipment and implementation costs due to design features which minimize the number of antennas needed to cover desired areas and frequencies.
Telewave’s product development strategy was to ensure that the system was designed for IoT sensors and devices.

iDAS Appeal was exhibited at ?IWCE in Las Vegas earlier this month and will be available in the third quarter of 2019. ?
