Kaspersky Lab announces Hybrid Cloud Security offering
Kaspersky Lab is expanding its virtualization and cloud security portfolio with the launch of its Hybrid Cloud Security offering. As the name suggests, the purpose of the solution is to secure hybrid clouds environments. It provides API-integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
Hybrid cloud models have become an attractive option for organizations that want to adopt public cloud capabilities while maintaining their legacy infrastructure. Nevertheless, many organizations are wary of migrating their applications to the public cloud on account of the security risks it poses. According to a survey by Kaspersky Lab that consisted of feedback from 5,274 respondents, approximately 59% of businesses felt that outsourcing and cloud hosted services could introduce new risks to their IT security.
Kaspersky’s Hybrid Cloud Security is intended to ensure attackers cannot take advantage of software by using several techniques, including exploit prevention, vulnerability assessment and automated patch management. It also leverages machine learning-assisted protection to identify, thwart and remediate potential threats before they impact business data or operations, according to the company. Other features include unified orchestration, operational hygiene techniques, systems hardening and workload defense.
Additionally, Kaspersky Hybrid Cloud Security aims to provide greater visibility to hybrid cloud environments. The company said the solution offers seamless integration of a comprehensive security stack into an organization’s internal, virtual infrastructure. “Keeping in mind how much valuable data is now stored in the cloud, it is critical for businesses to ensure they have holistic protection and visibility across all cloud platforms,” said Vitaly Mzokov, solution business lead at Kaspersky Lab, in a statement.
Kaspersky Lab isn’t the only company to bolster its hybrid cloud management capabilities lately. The launch of the company’s Hybrid Cloud Security follows VMware announcing updates to vSphere alongside vSAN. According to the company, vSphere 6.7 includes a new feature, dubbed vCenter Hybrid Link Mode, to enable unified visibility and management across different versions of vSphere running on-premises and in the public cloud.
