KDDI Europe chooses Silver Peak’s SD-WAN for tier managed services

KDDI Europe selects Silver Peak’s Unity EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution

KDDI Europe, a London-based subsidiary of KDDI Corporation, is adopting and providing Silver Peak’s SD-WAN solution to its enterprise customers.

KDDI Europe’s SD-WAN services will be powered by the Unity EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution. It will provide KDDI Europe with a host of tiered managed SD-WAN services geared toward midsize and large cloud-connected enterprises.

KDDI Europe is an ICT solution provider based in London and claims to offer global networks in over 190 countries. It provide ICT services as a ‘One-Stop’ solution, including network, data center, system integrations, voice, cloud computing, security, IT consulting and outsourcing.

KDDI Europe said it ultimately chose Silver Peak’s EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution for its ability to centrally orchestrate secure internet breakout on an application-by-application basis. This allows enterprises to connect employees in branch offices, in accordance with service level agreements, over any combination of transport, according to the company.

Silver Peak’s EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution was awarded “Product of the Year” for its customer deployment with Nuffield Health at the 2018 Network Computing Awards in the U.K. last month. Since launching the solution, Nuffield Health reportedly reduced WAN traffic by up to 75% and saw a four to six times increase in available bandwidth.

Among the other features that KDDI Europe cited that played a role in selecting EdgeConnect SD-WAN included: ease of adaptability as an overlay service for existing and new customers; lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to competitive SD-WAN offerings; and tiered service delivery with Unity Boost integrated WAN optimization.

“We are very pleased to partner with KDDI Europe, acknowledging their confidence that the EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution delivers the features and capabilities required to meet the growing demands of their most demanding enterprise customers, while providing an accelerated services revenue ramp for delivering high-margin, tiered managed SD-WAN services,” said Shayne Stubbs, vice president of service provider and cloud for Silver Peak. “With EdgeConnect, KDDI is open and ready for business, bringing the most advanced tiered managed SD-WAN services available to their European and global customers.”
