ZTE and Turkish telecommunications operator Turkcell inked a strategic agreement to collaborate in different fields including gigabit-possible passive optical network and “5G” technologies.
The two companies explained the strategic agreement includes cooperation on fixed network and wireless products such as customer premises equipment, GPON, dense wavelength division multiplexing and 5G. The new agreement extends an existing collaboration between Turkcell and ZTE on the operator’s T-series of mobile phones. Turkcell launched the first operator-branded T-series smartphone in 2011.
Nokia signs five-year agreement with Russian operator VimpelCom
Nokia and Russian operator VimpelCom, which operates under the Beeline brand, signed a five-year agreement under which Nokia will become the major supplier of managed services for VimpelCom’s fixed, mobile and transport network operations.
Nokia, which has been managing services for VimpelCom’s network in central Russia, will extend this responsibility to manage VimpelCom’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks, provided by a variety of equipment vendors.
The Finnish vendor said field maintenance work will be carried out by Nokia in the Southern, North Caucasian and Central regions of Russia, including Moscow. Nokia will also deliver network planning and optimization services, network implementation, project management and ongoing network support from its global delivery hub in Voronezh, Russia.
“The partnership with Nokia enables us to restructure business processes, improve financial performance, keep pace with global trends and drive technological innovations,” said Martin Skop, EVP for infrastructure development at VimpelCom. “In addition, smart managed services will help us improve our overall efficiency.”
