Today Microsoft closed on its acquisition of Nokia, with the deal now valued up to $7.5 billion due to a rise in the value of the Euro. Roughly one-third of Nokia’s workforce of 90,000 will transfer to Microsoft, including the company’s design team and its sales and marketing support teams. Microsoft now owns Nokia’s smartphone and mobile phone businesses and most of its manufacturing and assembly facilities and operations. The software giant is now a direct competitor to Apple in the mobile device space.
In other news, kids in Hong Kong are grabbing smartphones as soon as school is out, but not for the same reasons your kids are doing it. These kids are being forced to smuggle smartphones. Watch the video to learn more.
