MasTec acquires Dynis

MasTec (MTZ) has purchased Dynis for an undisclosed amount, bringing together two leading infrastructure services vendors. MasTec executes contracts for all the Tier 1 wireless carriers in the United States. Its biggest customer is AT&T – MasTec is AT&T’s primary contractor for wireless infrastructure services in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina South Carolina, and the Chicago metro area, through its Nsoro subsidiary. Dynis is AT&T’s primary infrastructure services contractor in Virginia and West Virginia, and is the carrier’s minority vendor in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.

Dynis is the latest in a string of acquisitions for MasTec Network Solutions. Previous purchases include Nsoro, Optima Network Services, Camcom, Dynamic Tower Services, and Data Cell Systems. Mastec Network Solutions is part of the communications division of MasTec, a $3.7 billion public construction company. Almost half of MasTec’s 2012 revenue came from its communications division.

MasTec Network Solutions provides network design, planning, deployment and management, as well as logistics management and warehousing. The company also offers radio engineering, antenna installation and microwave project engineering, as well as customized leased backhaul services. DAS and small cell installations are a fast-growing part of MasTec Network Solutions’ business. MasTec employs tower climbers directly and through subcontractors, and is working hard to bring more tower climbers in-house. The company plans to hire up to 1,000 individuals during the next 12 months.

Dynis is a private company that serves telecommunication network operators, equipment manufacturers and system integrators. Dynis also offers network management services for enterprise customers, and serves the energy industry with design/build services for wireless and wireline networks. In the telecom arena, Dynis specializes in RAN, DAS, backhaul and the core network, offering network support from the tower to the central office. Annual revenue is $117 million.

Dynis is the founding sponsor of Warriors 4 Wireless, an organization committed helping U.S. military find meaningful career opportunities in the wireless industry. The program connects veterans not only to immediate job opportunities, but also to opportunities for mentoring, training, certification and management opportunities.
