Big data is nothing new for telecom operators, but monetizing it is emerging as a fresh opportunity. Integrating data from voice, data and video services across multiple geographies can be a challenge, and some carriers are much further along than others. In-memory databases, information appliances, and column-oriented databases are among the tools that are helping carriers make the most of their data.
