Avvasi CEO: Carriers can monetize mobile video services

With video streaming on the rise, how can telecom operators monetize it? This was the theme of a video interview with Mate Prgin, president and CEO of Avvasi, which has just launched a video service gateway named Q-SRV to help service providers measure, improve and monetize the video experience on mobile devices.

“There is an essential demand from subscribers, and video will continue to grow exponentially. So service providers need to manage it and provide a different experience,” Prgin said.

In addition, the video trend will grow even more quickly as LTE coverage expands. The issue is how carriers can take advantage of this trend and make extra revenue.

Avvasi has pointed out that video now represents more than half of mobile network traffic, and operators need to manage it as a separate service. With Q-SRV, the company is embracing a new market category which has mobile network operators putting the subscriber’s video quality of experience at the heart of their traffic management process.

According to Avvasi, Q-SRV was designed for LTE and broadband networks. It enables network operators to detect poor video experience in their network, per subscriber, device, location and service and improve the user experience in real-time while simultaneously increasing virtual network capacity. Additionally, the company says Q-SRV helps rationalize and create SLAs for video quality, which is indispensable for video monetization.
