Microsoft launches Surface and Windows 8, Google looks ready with new Nexus

While Microsoft was busy unveiling its new Windows 8 operating system and Surface tablet today, Google’s new Nexus 10 tablet surfaced a little earlier than planned. Today a Korean website posted two photos of a what appears to be the user manual for the Nexus 10 tablet. First spotted by The Verge, the photos confirm that Samsung is the tablet’s manufacturer. The tablet’s most compelling feature is expected to be its screen resolution, which may be the highest yet for a tablet.

Google has scheduled a press release for 10am ET on Monday, and is widely expected to launch both the Nexus 10 and a Nexus 4 smartphone. The Nexus 4 also debuted a bit earlier than planned when a UK retailer reportedly posted an advertisement for it earlier today. The ad has since disappeared, but not before being spotted by the Next Web’s Matt Brian, who says the 4.7 inch phone runs Android 4.2 and is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor.

Microsoft is also holding a press event on Monday, just a few hours after Google’s event. The software giant is expected to launch its Windows 8 phone at that time. The Windows 8 phone will be able to share files with a computers that run Windows, and is expected to include turn-by-turn navigation and a built-in mobile wallet.
