PacSun integrates iPad into retail strategy

U.S. retailer Pacific Sunwear (PacSun) is deploying Global Bay Mobile Technologies’ iPad retailing solution in 300 stores nationwide, with plans to add another 100 stores through the rest of the year. The retailer, which caters to the youth demographic, said the technology will help it capture potential lost sales and create upsell opportunities.
“Clearly retailing is undergoing a fundamental change and the appropriate adoption of new technologies can be a critical piece in building relevance with today’s consumers,” said PacSun CEO Gary Schoenfeld. “Customers and store associates are finding the iPad to be a welcome surprise at Pac Sun and are giving us very positive feedback for being an early adopter.”
Global Bay, which has an iPad Retailing App, said the app improves interactions between the sales clerks and consumers. Employees can use the iPad to show customers through different outfit combinations and suggest other items, buy an item online if it is out of stock in the physical store and includes a QR code for special promotions.
The iPad is changing the way retailers interact with their customers, and we are thrilled to help retailers like PacSun use iPads to change the game on the sales floor,” said Global Bay CEO Sandeep Bhanote. “Ultimately, using the iPad to increase multi-channel sales and units per transactions makes the retailer successful.”
