Partnerships: Singtel and Chunghwa Telecom launch satellite; Virgin Media and Motricity; and more

Savtira Corporation, provider of outsourced e-commerce solutions, announced its participation in the ng Connect Program. The ng Connect Program is the multi-industry initiative driving the development of next generation broadband services and technologies based on LTE and other ultra high bandwidth technologies.

Virgin Media and Motricity, provider of mobile Internet services, announced Virgin Media will utilize Motricity’s MobileCast offering. MobileCast is a next generation content management solution and will deliver real-time, consumer relevant content to a wide range of smartphones on the Virgin Media mobile network.

SK Telecom announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Mobile in Beijing, China. Under the MOU, the companies will jointly develop new, next-generation technologies in four key ICT areas including: Next-Generation Network, Device Platform, Machine to Machine (M2M) and WAC/Mobile Internet. The MOU signing ceremony was attended by senior executives of both companies including Jin Yongzhe, Senior Vice President and Head of China R&D Group, SK Telecom, and Wang Xiaoyun, Deputy General Manager of China Mobile. Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) announced that its ST-2 satellite has completed assembly and integration, and successfully passed all major tests. The satellite is currently being shipped to its launch site, and scheduled for launch in mid-May 2011. The satellite, a joint venture with Chunghwa Telecom, was put through a series of rigorous acoustic, vibration and thermal-vacuum tests to ensure its robustness ahead of its journey through the constantly changing space environment as it goes into orbit.
