Will Apple announce the next iPhone at WWDC?

Apple. Inc. has announced the dates and focus of its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), but there is some concern that the company may not be announcing a new iPhone at the event as it has done the previous three years in a row.
WWDC is set for June 6 to 10 in San Francisco where Apple said it will be unveiling future plans for iOS and Mac OS. Demonstrations of the new capabilities in both platforms will be on hand and Apple engineers will hold more than 100 technical sessions.
“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s SVP of worldwide product marketing, said in a prepared statement. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”
Though Apple has never formally announced plans for device launches until the actual announcement, the wording of this year’s announcement places a heavy bent on software and not hardware. There’s also some who think Apple might be postponing the iPhone 5 (or whatever it will be called) to support LTE networks on both AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless.
