Chipmaker Sequans said it has partnered with Gemtek to accelerate the availability of TD-LTE consumer devices. The partnership calls for Gemtek to incorporate Sequans’ LTE UE chip into several devices it is currently developing, including a compact USB dongle and a desktop CPE. The companies said they expect large-scale operator trials of the devices to begin early next year.
AT&T announced a new service powered by MobileIron that helps businesses manage smartphones on multiple operating systems within their organization. The MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform provides over-the-air protection and control for smartphones being used within an organization. The solution is expected to be available to AT&T business customers by the end of this month.
Digital entertainment company Widevine said DIVA AG, which provides digital media movie and TV content, will use Widevine’s video optimization and digital rights management platform to enable the delivery of DIVA’s content to mobile devices.
Towercom Bulgaria selected Thomson Broadcast as a strategic supplier for its rollout of a DVB-T-based digital terrestrial television network across Bulgaria. The deal calls for Towercom to buy Thomson’s energy-efficient Elite GreenPower transmitters.
Sybase Inc. said its Sybase Managed Mobility and Sybase Unwired Platform are incorporated into Verizon Business’ new Mobile Services Enablement Platform. The platform is designed to reduce complexity in developing and deploying mobile applications running on a variety of back-end enterprise systems and mobile devices, said the companies.
Newtec said it extended its partnership with satellite telecom company Vizada Networks to introduce further developments in delivering IP trunking via satellite. Vizada currently provides satellite IP services using its JanUX platform. The companies said they will incorporate Newtec’s Elevation product family with the JanUX platform to create the next generation of IP trunking solutions.
Radiometrix entered a channel partnership in India with APC Technologies. The deal allows the company to enter the Indian market. APC specializes in RF and microwave supply chain activities.
