Q3 2010 carrier results wrap up

Editor’s Note: The list below is a wrap up of third-quarter 2010 results for the nation’s largest facilities-based and public wireless carriers. The results are from the carriers’ quarterly reports and include all customers on their networks, including network partners.
Verizon Wireless (VZ) continues to lead the industry in total customers surpassing the 93 million customer mark during the quarter after adding nearly 1 million new subscribers. AT&T Mobility (T) posted the most growth during the quarter, but remains behind its larger rival in the No. 2 position, though the gap is closing. The remaining two nationwide operators, Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) and T-Mobile USA Inc. (DTEGY), continued to trail their larger rivals by a significant margin, emphasizing the growing duopoly of the current mobile environment.
For the second straight quarter MetroPCS Communications Inc. (PCS) and Clearwire Corp. (CLWR) were the only other two non-nationwide operators to post customer growth during the quarter.
