Verizon Wireless overhauled its mobile Web service, adding content and redesigning the site in an effort to make it more user-friendly.
The carrier tweaked its wireless home page, installing drop-down bars for news headlines and shortcuts to content, and expanded its main menu to allow 10-button navigation. Verizon Wireless also added a clickable banner at the top of the home screen that offers a rotation of services such as Mapquest Mobile and a banking service for customers of Bank of America.
Access to the wireless Internet, which Verizon Wireless markets as Mobile Web 2.0, is $5 a month in addition to airtime. The offering is included in the carrier’s basic Vcast offering.
