Leap Wireless International Inc. rolled out service in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina, expanding its coverage to about 1.3 million potential customers in the region.
Cities in the area include Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary and Burlington. Leap said that the addition of the new markets extends its footprint in the Carolinas by 79%, or more than 2,000 miles.
Leap plans to open five retail stores within the newly launched markets, and will add 19 exclusive Cricket Communications dealers and 39 independent retail locations in the Research Triangle area.
