Michael Eisner, the former head of Walt Disney Co., has given the green light on a new summer spin-off series of his independent media studio’s Emmy-nominated show “Prom Queen.” Vuguru, which was recently formed by Eisner’s The Torante Co., produces and distributes original content for mediums most apt to play well with short-form video, namely wireless and broadband.
The new series, “Prom Queen: Summer Heat” will take some of the first season’s characters to Mexico as the story continues to unfold with new twists and turns.
The series will be distributed in 15 two-minute episodes over three weeks starting this August.
“Prom Queen continues to exceed our expectations in its success across media platforms,” Eisner said. “The summer series will be a wonderful continuation of the incredible talent and creativity of Prom Queen.”
The first series was watched by nearly 15 million people and was recently nominated for an Emmy.
